DR KRISTY YAP

Consultant Rheumatologist

Dr. Kristy Yap is a consultant rheumatologist who graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from the University of Western Australia. She undertook specialist rheumatology advanced training at Monash Medical Centre, the Western Hospital and the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. She was awarded her fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2015.

Dr. Yap was the recipient of the Ken Muirden Overseas Training Fellowship 2014 which provided funding for her to undertake an overseas fellowship in Toronto, Canada. She successfully completed her Clinical Research Fellowship in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Psoriatic Arthritis in 2015 and has published papers in various international journals including the Annals of Rheumatic Diseases.

Dr. Yap currently holds a consultant rheumatology position at Monash Health, and holds an Adjunct Senior Lecturer position at Monash University. Her role allows her to teach medical students and supervise junior medical staff. Dr. Yap continues to have an active role in research including the longitudinal collection of data at a dedicated Lupus clinic and the recruitment and assessment of patients in Clinical Trials as a sub-investigator.

Dr. Yap’s main interests are connective tissue disorders and inflammatory arthritis. Dr. Yap is a believer of patient-centred care and is committed to listening and working with her patients towards their best possible outcome.

In her spare time, Dr. Yap enjoys travelling back to her hometown Vancouver, Canada for some skiing and catching up with family and friends. In Melbourne she enjoys drinking coffee and spending time with her husband, son and pet Cavalier.

 

Dr Kristy Yap will be taking maternity leave during October 2022 to April 2023 (hopefully) and Dr Winston Chang will be covering her during this time.
